Dos and Don'ts for International Students Arriving in the United Kingdom

Things you need to do when you come to a university in the United Kingdom as an international student.

• Find a place to stay.

Find suitable accommodation for yourself. It is preferable to choose university accommodation because it is close to the institution.

• Collect your BRP

When you pick up your passport after receiving your visa. You will receive a letter in which they will inform you of where you can pick up your BRR (biometric residential permit) card. Collect that BRP card as soon as possible.

• Open a bank account.

The bulk of items in the United Kingdom is online. You must open a bank account,  Lloyds is a bank where you may quickly open a bank account as an international student. You may also join Revolut.

• Register with GP (General Practitioner)

Register with your nearest GP(General Practitioner).

• Apply for your National Insurance (NI) number.

For your employment, you must have an NI number.

The first thing you should do in university is to know about student services since, as an international student, you will have a lot of questions that they will help you with.

• Attend social events.

Attending various social gatherings and student evenings will assist you in making new acquaintances.

Things to avoid, when came to the United Kingdom as an international student.

• Your first priority is the degree.

Remember that your first focus after arriving in the United Kingdom is your degree. Concentrate on your academics.

• Do not engage in illicit activities.

Do not engage in unlawful activities such as working more than 20 hours per week, drug dealing, or contract cheating for university assignments.
